The Casablanca Kron system already includes extensive features and functions that enable you to creatively edit your video footage, which is why the Kron is the top of the range Casablanca system. As market leaders in stand-alone video editing systems, we are committed to offering our customers technical innovations on a regular basis so that the Kron system retains its leading position. That is why we have decided to offer you the option of upgrading your Kron hardware.

The following changes and improvements are available with the Casablanca Kron hardware upgrade:

1. The system is fitted with a modern motherboard.
2. The central processing unit is replaced by a new, more powerful Intel Pentium processor with fast memory bus.
3. The working memory (RAM) is increased to 256 MB.
4. The system is given a new housing lid and base (the front panel stays the same) with a new power supply unit and a significantly modified ventilation concept.
5. A network connection is added to the range of inputs and outputs and is thus available for use by future add-ons. 
6. The number of USB ports is increased to three.
7. The system is fitted with a second IDE controller for separately controlling the built-in hard disks and the DVD-Arabesk DVD burner (if installed).
8. Removal of the SCSI controller (SCSI hard drives cannot be used thereafter) and removal of the no longer needed serial interface and PS2 port. 

These numerous changes and improvements result in the following advantages:

• Processing power is increased significantly leading to considerably shorter processing times. This speed advantage is already available in conjunction with the "classic" system software (1.x), though the new SMART EDIT system software (2.x) is required to make full use of the improvements and thus provide even better performance. 
• The system's operating noise is reduced distinctly, which is conducive to users' concentration whilst working. 
• All the up-to-date connection options are now fitted for use by future add-ons and new developments. 
• Support for double-speed writing onto DVD-R media using DVD drives (DVD-Arabesk), which means the time taken to burn a DVD can be halved (only in conjunction with double-speed and high-speed DVD-R media).  
• IDE hard drives exceeding 80 GB capacity can be used (e.g. 120 GB). Additionally, two internal IDE hard drives can be used in parallel. This allows you to increase your system's storage capacity considerably.
